This coin was produced by the Melbourne mint. There were many 1936 pennies minted making this a common Australian coin.
There is a variation found with the number three having it's top section broken by a small gap in the numeral. This defect in the date was the result of a faulty die. Keeping an eye out for such penny varieties can result in finds amongst common pennies.
