The Australian 1917 Penny
With the Australian mints still not equipped to use copper metal the 1917 Australian penny was made overseas. 6,240,00 were made resulting in 1917's penny to be quite common. Such large numbers were required to boost the supply during war time.
Calcutta was the mint of production. This can be verified by the mint mark placed underneath the lower scroll. There are not believed to be any variations amongst this coin.
Below will be displayed the 1917 Australian penny when for sale on eBay.
